"Israel" sentences Sheikh Ra'ed Salah to 28 months in prison

The Israeli-banned Islamic movement leader Sheikh Ra'ed Salah was sentenced to 28 months in prison Monday by Magistrate’s Court in the northern city of Haifa.

According to the court's decision, 11 months that sheikh Salah spent inside the prison in the previous period will be reduced, which means that he will spend another 17 months to be sentenced in prison. The execution of the sentence was frozen until next 25 March.

The court has convicted Sheikh Salah on charges of "inciting terrorism and violence and supporting a terrorist organization"

The public prosecution demanded imposing a punishment on Sheikh Salah at least 4 years and half of actual imprisonment, claiming that the punishment is proportional to the charges attributed to him in the bill of indictment.

In this context, on 24 November 2019, the Magistrate’s Court in Haifa convicted Sheikh Salah of incitement and support to the (northern) Islamic movement.

Sheikh Salah has been on trial for more than two years for Israeli allegations of various offenses, including "incitement to violence and terrorism", in speeches and statements at the 2017 Al-Bab al-Asbat (e-portals) in occupied Jerusalem.
